Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Install batteries and optional accessories.

  1. Install Batteries: Open battery compartment on back, insert two AA batteries (alkaline, NiMH, or lithium) observing polarity.
  2. Attach Wrist Strap: Thread strap through loop on top of unit for secure handling.
  3. Install Optional Mounts: For marine or bike use, attach to compatible Garmin mount.
  4. Charge (Optional): If using NiMH batteries, charge via USB connection to computer or power adapter.

WARNING! Use only recommended batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries or different types.

First-Time Setup

Power on device; follow on-screen prompts.

  1. Acquire Satellite Signal: Go outdoors with clear view of sky. Unit will automatically acquire satellites.

  5. Project Waypoint: Create a waypoint at a bearing and distance from current location.
  6. Find Places: Use Find menu to locate cities, points of interest, or geocaches (if loaded).
