Safety Information

Read all safety instructions before installation and operation.

  1. Ensure the vessel’s electrical system is OFF during installation.
  2. Use only marine-grade wiring and connectors.
  3. Secure all cables to prevent chafing or damage.
  4. Mount in a location that does not obstruct navigation or safety equipment.
  5. Do not mount where the display will be exposed to direct spray or immersion.

WARNING! This device contains sensitive electronics. Protect from extreme temperatures, moisture, and physical impact.

Mounting the Chartplotter

Choose between flush mount or bracket mount. Use provided template for accurate hole placement.

  1. Select location: Ensure clear view, within reach, and away from magnetic interference.
  2. Mark holes: Use template to mark screw holes for bracket or flush mount.
  3. Drill pilot holes: Use appropriate drill bit for mounting surface (fiberglass, wood, metal).
  4. Secure bracket: Attach using provided screws and sealant if needed.
  5. Attach unit: Slide chartplotter onto bracket and tighten security screw.

CAUTION! Do not overtighten screws. Ensure mounting surface is structurally sound.

Electrical Connections

Connect the power/NMEA 2000 cable to vessel’s DC system and NMEA 2000 network.

  1. Identify wires: Red (power +), Black (power -), Blue (NMEA 2000 +), White (NMEA 2000 -), Shield (drain).
  2. Connect power: Red to fused (3 A) positive DC source; Black to negative/ground.
  3. Connect NMEA 2000: Blue to NMEA 2000 backbone +; White to backbone -; Shield to ground.
  4. Secure connections: Use heat-shrink tubing or waterproof connectors.
  5. Route cable: Avoid sharp bends, high heat, and moving parts.

Tip: Install an inline fuse as close to the power source as possible.

Network Configuration

Connect to Garmin Marine Network devices via Ethernet cable.

  1. Locate Ethernet port on rear of unit.
  2. Use standard Garmin Marine Network cable (not included) to connect to compatible devices (e.g., radar, sonar).
  3. Ensure all network devices are powered on.
  4. Access Network settings from Home screen to view connected devices.

NOTE: Maximum cable length between devices is 100 meters (328 ft).

NMEA 2000/0183 Setup

Configure NMEA connections for data sharing with other instruments.

Tip: Use a NMEA 2000 terminator at each end of the backbone for proper network operation.

Sensor Integration

Add compatible Garmin sensors for enhanced functionality.

  1. Radar: Connect via Garmin Marine Network. Ensure clear path for antenna.
  2. Sonar: Connect compatible transducer via appropriate sonar module.
  3. Autopilot: Interface using NMEA 2000 or dedicated autopilot network.
  4. VHF/AIS: Connect via NMEA 0183 or NMEA 2000 for radio integration and AIS targets.

WARNING! Follow individual sensor installation manuals for specific wiring and mounting requirements.

Initial Power-On & Setup

Power on the chartplotter and complete initial configuration.

  1. Turn on vessel’s DC power.
  2. Press Power button on chartplotter.
  3. Follow on-screen prompts: Select language, units (nautical/statute), time zone.
  4. Agree to terms and conditions.
  5. Calibrate touchscreen if prompted.
  6. Access Home screen: Configure chart layers, data fields, and dashboards as needed.

CAUTION! Do not operate while underway until fully configured and tested.
