Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Plan mounting location for clear view and access.

  1. Mounting: Use included bracket. Select a flat, sturdy surface on helm. Ensure clear view and touch access.
  2. Power Connection: Connect red wire to boat's positive (+) DC power (10–35 Vdc). Connect black wire to negative (-) or ground.
  3. Data Connections: Connect NMEA 2000 drop cable to boat's NMEA 2000 network. Connect NMEA 0183 wires if interfacing with legacy devices.
  4. Sonar Transducer: Connect compatible Garmin transducer to appropriate sonar port on power/data cable.
  5. Secure Cables: Route and secure all cables away from moving parts and heat sources.

WARNING! Disconnect boat's battery before making electrical connections. Ensure mounting surface can support unit weight. Do not mount where it obstructs operator's view.

First-Time Setup

Apply power to the unit; follow on-screen prompts.

  1. Language/Units: Select preferred language and navigation units (nautical miles, statute miles, kilometers).
  2. Agree to Terms: Read and accept the software license agreement.
  3. GPS Acquisition: Place unit in open sky view. It will automatically acquire GPS/GLONASS satellites.
  4. Chart Selection: If using additional chart cards, insert microSD card. Select active chart from Settings > My Maps.
  5. Calibration (Optional): Calibrate compass and water speed if connected sensors require it.
  6. Network Setup: If connected to a Garmin Marine Network, devices should auto-detect. Verify in Settings > Communications.

CAUTION! Perform initial GPS acquisition in an open area away from obstructions for best performance.
