Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose mounting location with clear view and access.

  1. Mount bracket: Use provided hardware to secure bracket to dash or console.
  2. Connect power/data cable: Route cable to power source (10–32 V DC) and ground.
  3. Connect NMEA 2000 network: Attach to backbone for engine/data sharing.
  4. Connect sonar transducer: Use appropriate cable to transducer input.
  5. Secure unit: Snap chartplotter into bracket; tighten security screw.

WARNING! Ensure power is off during installation. Route cables away from moving parts and heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Power on unit; follow on-screen prompts.

  1. Select language: Choose from available options (default English).

Controls and Settings

Settings: System (language, units, time), Display (brightness, color mode), Communications (Wi-Fi, NMEA), Alarms (anchor drag, arrival, etc.). Navigation: Create waypoints, plan routes, track recording. Sonar: Adjust frequency, range, gain, noise filters.

Connecting Devices

NMEA 2000: Connect to backbone for engine data, instruments. NMEA 0183: For legacy devices. Sonar: Transducer cable to appropriate port. Wi-Fi: For updates and ActiveCaptain.

  1. Turn off power before connecting devices.
  2. Use appropriate Garmin cables and connectors.
  3. Configure NMEA sentences in Settings > Communications.
  4. For sonar, ensure transducer is properly installed and selected in sonar settings.

Tip: Label cables during installation for easier troubleshooting.

Navigation & Chartplotting

Supports detailed marine charts and navigation tools.

  1. View chart: From Home, tap Navigation. Use pinch-to-zoom.
  2. Create waypoint: Tap and hold on chart, select "Save as Waypoint."
  3. Plan route: Tap Route, tap points on chart, tap Done.
  4. Follow route: Select route from list, tap Go.
  5. Track recording: Settings > Tracks > Record Track.

  7. Dock-to-dock Autorouting: Enter destination for automatic route (with compatible charts).

WARNING! Always have paper charts as backup. GPS signals can be obstructed.

Sonar Features

With compatible transducer, view traditional CHIRP, ClearVü (down scan), SideVü (side scan).

  1. Access sonar: From Home, tap Sonar.
  2. Select view: Traditional, ClearVü, or SideVü.
  3. Adjust settings: Frequency, range, gain, scroll speed.
  4. Use A-scope: Real-time vertical display for precise depth.
  5. Save screenshots: Tap and hold screen to save image to SD card.

Note: Sonar performance depends on transducer type and installation.

Care & Cleaning
