Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Install batteries or connect to power.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment, insert two AA batteries (NiMH or Lithium recommended).
  2. Charge via USB: Connect to computer or compatible USB charger to charge NiMH batteries.
  3. Install microSD card (optional): Insert card into slot until it clicks.
  4. Acquire satellites: Power on device and go outdoors with clear sky view for initial satellite lock.

WARNING! Use only recommended batteries. Do not expose to extreme temperatures during initial satellite acquisition.

First-Time Use

Power on the device; follow on-screen prompts.

  1. Set language: Select preferred language from the list.
  2. Calibrate compass: Follow on-screen instructions to calibrate the electronic compass.
  3. Set time and date: Choose automatic (GPS) or manual setting.

Using Maps & Waypoints

Supports built-in basemap, optional preloaded TOPO maps, and BirdsEye Satellite Imagery.

  1. View map: Press PAGE to cycle to Map page.
  2. Zoom: Use rocker up/down to zoom in/out.
  3. Pan: Use rocker left/right to pan the map.
  4. Mark waypoint: Press and hold ENTER/MARK button.
  5. Navigate to waypoint: Select "Where To?" > "Waypoints" > choose destination > "Go".
  6. Create route: Main Menu > Routes > Create New Route.
  7. Track log: Enable track recording in Track Manager; view or save tracks.

WARNING! Always carry a paper map as backup. GPS signals can be obstructed.
