Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose mounting location with clear view of sky for GPS reception.

  1. Mount the unit: Use provided bracket or flush mount kit. Ensure secure attachment to helm or console.
  2. Connect power: Route power cable to battery. Connect red wire to positive (+), black wire to negative (-). Use in-line fuse as specified.
  3. Connect transducer (optional): Route cable to transom or through-hull location. Connect to sonar port.
  4. Connect to marine network (optional): Wire NMEA 0183 leads to compatible devices or connect to NMEA 2000 network.
  5. Secure all cables with cable ties and protect from abrasion.

WARNING! Disconnect power before installation. Ensure all connections are waterproofed. Route cables away from moving parts and heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Apply power to the unit; follow initial startup prompts.

  1. Acquire GPS signal: Place unit in open sky view. Allow several minutes for initial satellite acquisition.
  2. Set language and units: Navigate to Main Menu > Setup > System to select language, distance, speed, and depth units.
  3. Calibrate compass (if applicable): Follow on-screen instructions for magnetic compass calibration.
  4. Adjust display: Set backlight, contrast, and color scheme for optimal visibility.

Controls and Settings

Access functions via front panel keys and rotary knob. Power key turns unit on/off. PAGE cycles through display pages (Chart, Sonar, Highway, etc.). MENU accesses context-sensitive options.

Main Menu Categories: Chart, Sonar, Waypoints, Routes, Tracks, Setup, Information.

Chart Settings: Orientation (North Up, Course Up, Head Up), Detail level, Shallow/Deep water alarms. Sonar Settings: Frequency, Sensitivity, Range, Noise rejection. System Setup: Units, Time, Alarms, Backlight, NMEA configuration. Navigation: Waypoint creation/edit, Route planning, Track recording and management.

Connecting Devices

Power: Direct to battery with in-line fuse. Transducer: To sonar port. NMEA 0183: Connect to compatible devices (AIS, autopilot, etc.). NMEA 2000: Connect to certified backbone for data sharing.

  1. Turn off all devices before making connections.
  2. Use marine-grade connectors and seal against moisture.
  3. For NMEA 0183, match transmit (TX) to receive (RX) lines between devices.
  4. For NMEA 2000, ensure proper termination and power on the network.

Tip: Label all cables during installation for easier future maintenance.

Using Navigation Features

Supports waypoint, route, and track navigation.

  1. Create Waypoint: Press MARK at current location or use cursor to select point on chart.
  2. Navigate to Waypoint: From waypoint list, select and choose "Go To".
  3. Create Route: Menu > Routes > New Route. Add waypoints in sequence.
  4. Follow Route: Select route and choose "Navigate".
