Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose mounting location with clear view and accessibility.

  1. Select Mounting Location: Ensure location is flat, sturdy, and within reach of operator.
  2. Prepare Mounting Surface: Drill holes as per template for flush or bracket mount.
  3. Connect Power/NMEA Cable: Route cable to power source and connect red to positive (+), black to negative (-).
  4. Connect External Devices: Attach NMEA 0183, NMEA 2000, or network cables as needed.
  5. Secure Unit: Mount unit using provided hardware and torque screws to 2.2 N·m (20 in-lb).
  6. Apply Power: Verify correct polarity before applying 10–32 Vdc power.

WARNING! Disconnect vessel's power before installation. Ensure all connections are waterproofed. Route cables away from moving parts and high heat.

First-Time Setup

Apply power; follow on-screen prompts.

  2. Language Selection: Select preferred language (default is ENGLISH).

Connecting Devices

NMEA 0183: Connect to compatible instruments (AIS, autopilot, wind, speed). NMEA 2000: Connect to backbone for plug-and-play sensor data. Garmin Marine Network: Connect to compatible radar, sonar, or other chartplotters.

  1. Turn off power to all devices before connecting.
  2. Use appropriate cables and connectors (supplied or purchased separately).
  3. Seal connections with waterproof heat-shrink or sealant.
  4. Configure NMEA sentences in System > Communications menu.

Tip: Label cables during installation for future service. Test each connection before final routing.

Using Navigation Features

Create and follow routes, mark waypoints, view sonar, and overlay radar.

  1. View Chart: Press PAGE to cycle displays; default is Chart.
  2. Mark Waypoint: Press MARK to save current position; edit name/symbol.
  3. Create Route: Menu > Route > New Route; add points from chart or waypoint list.
  4. Navigate: Select Go To for waypoint or Activate for route.
  5. Sonar View: Connect compatible transducer; view depth, bottom contour, fish arches.
  6. Radar Overlay: Connect compatible radar; overlay on chart for situational awareness.
