Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose mounting location with clear view of sky.

  1. Mount unit: Use included bracket; secure to dashboard or console using appropriate hardware.
  2. Connect power: Attach red wire to positive (+), black wire to negative (-) on 10-40 VDC source.
  3. Connect antenna: Attach external GPS antenna to MCX connector if needed for better reception.

WARNING! Ensure power is off during installation. Route cables away from moving parts and heat sources.

First-Time Setup

Map: Orientation (North Up, Course Up, Track Up), Detail level, Chart data fields. Navigation: Follow route, navigate to waypoint, proximity waypoints.

Connecting Devices

External Antenna: MCX connector. PC: Serial or USB cable. NMEA 0183: Connect to compatible marine instruments (depth sounder, autopilot, etc.).

  1. Turn off power before making connections.
  2. Use appropriate cables and connectors; ensure waterproof seals are intact.
  3. Configure NMEA sentences in Interface setup menu as required by connected devices.
  4. For data transfer to/from PC, use MapSource software or compatible programs.

Tip: Label cables for easy identification. Use dielectric grease on connectors in marine environments.

Navigation & Chartplotting

Supports detailed marine navigation with BlueChart and other maps.

  1. View map: Press PAGE to cycle to Map page; use ZOOM to adjust scale.
  2. Navigate to waypoint: Select waypoint from list, choose "Go To".
  3. Follow route: Activate route from Route list; navigation line appears on map.
  4. MOB: Press and hold MOB button to instantly mark current position and begin navigation back to that point.
  5. Data fields: Customize map and navigation screens to show speed, course, distance, ETA, etc.
  6. Tracks: View track log, save active track, navigate back along track.
  7. Alarms: Set anchor drag, arrival, proximity, and other alarms.

WARNING! GPS is an aid to navigation. Always use traditional navigation methods and maintain proper lookout.

Waypoints & Routes

Create and manage waypoints and routes for trip planning.

  1. Mark waypoint: Press MARK at current location; edit name, symbol, coordinates.
  2. Create waypoint: From map, move cursor to desired location and press ENTER to create.
  3. Build route: In Route menu, select "New", add waypoints in sequence.
  4. Edit route: Insert, delete, or reverse waypoints in existing route.
  5. Navigate route: Select route and choose "Navigate".
  6. Transfer waypoints/routes: Use PC interface to backup or share data.

Tip: Use meaningful waypoint names (e.g., "BUOY14", "HARBENT") for easy identification.

Care & Maintenance

Use fresh water and mild soap to clean exterior; dry thoroughly. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasives.

CAUTION! Do not open unit; no user-serviceable parts inside. Keep connectors clean and protected when not in use. Store in cool, dry place.
