Plan installation carefully considering visibility, accessibility, and cable routing.
WARNING! Installation may require drilling. Ensure no underlying wires, pipes, or structural elements will be damaged.
Use included bracket and hardware for flush or surface mounting.
CAUTION! Unit is heavy. Support it during mounting to prevent dropping.
Tip: Use marine-grade heat-shrink connectors and protect all connections with dielectric grease.
Connect the GPS antenna and any external data sources.
WARNING! Do not power the unit until all connections are verified. Ensure antenna connector is finger-tight and weather-sealed.
Apply power and configure basic system settings.
CAUTION! Do not operate the vessel while configuring the unit. Be in a safe, stationary location.
Access the Main Menu to configure display, navigation, and alarms.
Main Menu Path: Press MENU twice from any page.
Display: Set contrast, backlight level (day/night modes), color scheme.
Navigation: Set north reference (True/Magnetic), datum (WGS 84 default), CDI scale, alarm settings (anchor, arrival, off-course).
Chart: Select chart orientation (North Up, Course Up, Head Up), set detail level, and enable/disable chart data layers.
System: Set time/date, interface settings (see NMEA section), system information.
Configure data input and output for connected devices.
Tip: Start with minimal NMEA output sentences to reduce data load. Add only what connected devices require.
Unplug power before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth with mild soap and water. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or ammonia-based solutions on the screen.
CAUTION! Ensure connectors, especially the antenna and power ports, are free of corrosion and moisture. Inspect seals periodically.
FCC Compliance: This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the condition that it does not cause harmful interference. This device meets applicable Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada licence-exempt RSS standard(s).

| Symptom | Possible Cause | Corrective Action |
|---|---|---|
| No Power | Blown fuse, loose connection, incorrect polarity | Check inline fuse; verify tight, correct connections (Red=+, Black=-). |
| "No GPS Signal" | Antenna not connected, obstructed view, faulty antenna | Check antenna cable connection; ensure clear sky view; try known-good antenna. |
| No Data from NMEA Device | Incorrect wiring, wrong baud rate, device not transmitting | Verify NMEA wiring (A to A, B to B); match baud rates; check device output. |
| Dim or Flickering Display | Low input voltage, poor power connection | Measure voltage at unit's power terminals (should be >10.5VDC). Check for corrosion. |
| Unit Freezes or Resets | Power spike, low voltage, software issue | Cycle power. Ensure stable power supply. Consider master reset (see manual). |
Master Reset: If experiencing persistent issues, a master reset may be required (erases all user settings and waypoints). Consult full manual for procedure.
Service: Do not open the unit. For service, contact Garmin or an authorized service center.
