Installation & Setup

Unpack and inspect contents. Install batteries and power on.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 2 AA batteries (alkaline or NiMH).
  2. Initial power: Press and hold POWER button until unit turns on.
  3. Acquire satellites: Go outdoors with clear sky view; allow several minutes for first fix.
  4. Set language/units: Follow on-screen prompts to configure preferences.

WARNING! Use only recommended batteries. Do not expose to extreme temperatures during initial setup.

First-Time Use

After initial setup, configure basic settings for optimal use.

  1. Calibrate compass: Hold level and rotate slowly as prompted.

  3. Configure map display: Adjust detail level and orientation (North up/Track up).
