Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Choose mounting location with clear view of sky.

  1. Mount unit: Use provided hardware for flush or rail mounting.
  2. Connect power/data cable: Red wire to +12V DC, Black wire to ground.
  3. Connect to device: Connect NMEA output wires to chartplotter or other NMEA device.
  4. Secure connections: Ensure all connections are waterproof if exposed.

WARNING! Ensure power is off during installation. Mount in location free from obstructions.

First-Time Setup

Power on unit; observe LED status.

  1. Initial acquisition: Allow 5-15 minutes for first satellite fix (cold start).
  2. LED interpretation: Solid green = 3D fix; Blinking green = 2D fix; Red = no fix.
  3. Verify output: Connect to compatible device to confirm NMEA data stream.
  4. Configure output sentences: Use compatible software if needed (default GGA, GSA, GSV, RMC).

CAUTION! Do not power with voltage outside 10-40 VDC range.

Specifications

Controls and Connections

Unit has no physical buttons. Status indicated by LED. Cable connections: Power (Red/Black), NMEA Out + (Blue), NMEA Out - (Brown), NMEA In + (Green), NMEA In - (Yellow).

LED Status: Off = No power; Solid Red = Power on, no fix; Blinking Green = 2D fix; Solid Green = 3D fix; Blinking Red = Self-test failure.

Mounting: Use provided screws for permanent installation. Ensure antenna face has clear sky view.

Configuration & Output

Default NMEA 0183 sentences: GGA, GSA, GSV, RMC. Baud rate: 4800 (default).

  1. Connect to configuration software (optional) via serial port.
  2. Adjust output sentences, baud rate, or update rate if required.
  3. Enable/disable WAAS/EGNOS (enabled by default).

Tip: Most marine plotters auto-detect NMEA input; manual configuration may be needed.

Operation & Navigation

Once installed and powered, unit operates automatically.

  1. Power on: LED will illuminate red, then transition to green as fix is acquired.
  2. Monitor status: Solid green LED indicates valid 3D navigation data.
  3. Data output: NMEA sentences stream continuously to connected device.
  4. Cold/warm starts: Unit stores almanac data for faster subsequent acquisitions.
  5. Battery backup: Internal capacitor maintains memory for warm starts (short term).

WARNING! Performance degraded near tall structures, indoors, or under dense canopy.

Maintenance & Care

Periodically check cable connections for corrosion. Clean exterior with fresh water and mild soap if needed.

CAUTION! Do not use high-pressure water spray. Do not disassemble unit.
