WARNING! Do not discard packaging until installation is complete. Inspect for shipping damage.

Mounting the Unit

Select a location with clear view of the sky, within easy reach of the operator, and protected from heavy spray.

  1. Use the provided template to mark drill holes on a flat, sturdy surface (dashboard or console).
  2. Drill holes for the mounting bracket screws and cable pass-through.
  3. Secure the mounting bracket using the supplied screws and sealant (user-provided) to prevent water ingress.
  4. Attach the GPS unit to the bracket by sliding it into place and tightening the locking knob.
  5. Ensure the unit is firmly secured and does not vibrate excessively.

CAUTION! Avoid mounting near magnetic compasses (maintain at least 3 feet/1 meter separation).

Power Connection

The unit operates from 10–40 VDC. Connect to the vessel's battery via the supplied cable.

  1. Identify the red (positive) and black (negative) wires on the power/data cable.
  2. Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of the battery or a switched fuse panel (recommended).
  3. Connect the black wire to the negative (-) terminal or vessel ground.
  4. Install the in-line fuse (2 A) near the power source connection.
  5. Route the cable away from high-current wires and engine ignition sources to avoid interference.

Tip: Use a waterproof cable gland at the entry point to the console to maintain the IPX7 rating.

NMEA Data Connections

To connect to other marine electronics (e.g., sounder, autopilot) for data exchange.

NMEA 0183: Use the blue (Tx/A Out) and brown (Rx/B In) wires. Connect to compatible devices per their manuals.

NMEA 2000: Requires an optional Garmin NMEA 2000 cable and network backbone. Connect to the network drop cable.

  1. Ensure all devices and the GPS are powered OFF before making connections.
  2. Follow wiring diagrams precisely. Incorrect connections can damage equipment.
  3. After connection, configure the NMEA sentences in the GPS interface menu.
