Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Install batteries and prepare for first use.

  1. Install batteries: Open battery compartment, insert 4 AA batteries observing polarity.
  2. External antenna (optional): Connect to MCX port on top of unit.
  3. Data cable (optional): Connect serial cable to PC for data transfer.
  4. Mounting: Use optional mounting bracket for fixed installation.

WARNING! Use only alkaline or NiMH rechargeable batteries. Do not mix old and new batteries.

First-Time Setup

Power on GPS; follow initialization procedure.

  1. Acquire satellite signals: Place unit outdoors with clear view of sky, power on, wait for acquisition.
  2. Set language: In SETUP menu, select ENGLISH (default).
  3. Set units: Configure position format, map datum, distance/speed units.
  4. Set time: Configure time format and time zone.

Navigation Features

  1. Mark waypoint: Press and hold ENTER at current location, edit name/symbol.

  3. Create route: In Route menu, select waypoints in sequence.
